When Choosing a Fax you just need to consider a few things

How many faxes do you receive - if its very minimal, then an inkjet machine may well be fine, but if you receive 15+ faxes a day, then laser will be a better option. The toner lasts longer, is cheaper to run and the machines are designed to be more durable and longer lasting. If you overwork an inkjet machine the working life of the unit dramatically reduces.

How many faxes do you send - the smaller machines take longer to send and receive faxes as they have slower modems than a larger machine.

Fax or Multifunction (MFC) - MFC is when the machine can Fax/Copy/Scan/Print, so takes away the need for multiple devices, a lot of companies prefer this as it means only one device is needed especially if you get a Network ready machine - where a group of people can use the print/scan feature. However this does cause a lot of toner to be used and machines can go through consumables quickly, if you run out then you will not be able to receive faxes.  You do find people start using the copy facility rather than using a proper designated copier, this is a expensive way to copy documents. A standalone fax is still the machine of choice for many companies
